NEW ACCREDITATION FOR VEHICLE INTERNAL COMBUSTION TESTING!
PLASTLAB has successfully obtained new accreditations for automotive standards for flammability testing!
At the last Accredia Audit in February 2026, Plastlab obtained new accreditations for automotive standards for horizontal combustion testing, completing the vast range of standards already accredited by the Laboratory!
Specifically, accreditation was obtained for the new combustion tests of the VOLKSWAGEN TL1010 automotive manufacturer and the Japanese automotive standard JIS TRIAS 20-J027-01, in addition to various international automotive standards and those of car manufacturers such as STELLANTIS, FIAT, PSA, and IVECO: UNI ISO 3795, UNECE 118R – Annex 6, Stellantis LP.7M079, GB 8410, FMVSS 49 CFR 571.302, PSA Peugeot – D45 1333, IVECO STD. 16-0154, FCA 7-G2000:2018.
The laboratory is therefore accredited to a total of 10 standards for horizontal combustion tests, thus strengthening its internal system and ensuring a wider range of tests based on specific customer requests.
Horizontal combustion tests are performed on specimens cut from a component or molded specifically for the test, with an ignition being performed on the exposed side for 15 seconds.
Typically, the specimens are tested from the aesthetic side and sampled for a thickness no greater than 13 mm from the outer edge toward the passenger compartment.
These tests can be requested by automotive manufacturers in accordance with major international regulations, such as FMVSS 49 CFR 571.302, JIS TRIAS 20-J027-01, GB8410, and for passenger vehicles, also UNECE 118R-Annex 6.
