THE MECHANICAL WORKSHOP: SUPPORT ACTIVITIES FOR PLASTLAB
In January 2025, Plastlab acquired a mechanical workshop to focus its activities on the production of metal components for its operations.
The facility, now fully operational following significant improvements to the laboratory’s quality system, is used to manufacture fixtures, equipment, and components required for the various testing activities requested by customers.

The implementation process begins with the analysis of the tests and the necessary equipment by the team which includes the laboratory manager, the technical specialists and the design staff.

Once the operational requirements have been established, we proceed with the 3D design using CAD software. The project is shared with in-house technicians and, if the work is not for Plastlab, with the client.
Production is carried out using our three-axis vertical machining center with automatic tool changer, using on-board programming or CAM software.
The approximate strokes are 700x400x300 mm, and a parallel lathe and a visualized milling machine are also available.
The most commonly used material is aluminum, but when necessary, steels and technical plastics are used. To these, we also prepare and execute the drawings of a 3D-printed prototype before the process begins, as an aid to execution.
