PLASTLAB IS A RESEARCH INSTITUTE: LAUNCH OF THE 4D BONE PROJECT

PLASTLAB, in addition to carrying out tests for companies, is a RESEARCH INSTITUTION, an activity that over the years has been updated on a few occasions and always on an erratic basis.

In 2023, he began a collaboration with the University of Turin and specifically with the Center of Excellence for Educational Research and Assistance in the Odontostomatology field called DENTAL SCHOOL, aimed at developing research activities in the field of biomaterials used in oro-dental tissues.

THE “4D BONE” PROJECT IN COLLABORATION WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF TURIN

The project, led by Plastlab and involving the University and other companies specializing in the production of materials and the design of basic mock-ups that simulate the jaw, aims to generate new biocompatible and resistant materials for the production of dental prostheses, or the grafting of autologous bone generated through tissue engineering.

This complex project is part of the development of techniques to address trauma and pathological conditions affecting the jaw, conditions that, in part due to the aging population, are constantly increasing.

Plastlab’s task within the two-year project will be to test the materials’ resistance by subjecting them to mechanical characterization, fluidity, and processability tests before and after accelerated aging, comparing them with the current reality and identifying the best performing ones.

In collaboration with the University of Turin, the material’s biocompatibility will also be evaluated, given the particularly delicate environment of this specific area.
