PLASTLAB AT THE CUTTING EDGE OF ENERGY ANALYSIS

PLASTLAB AT THE CUTTING EDGE OF ENERGY ANALYSIS

PLASTLAB ALWAYS ONE STEP MORE…

Once the PANDEMIC was over, the uncertainty of the international markets experienced the beginning of the war in Ukraine, to which was added the crisis of Israel with the Palestinians, all these aspects continue to generate a strong uncertainty on the raw materials markets and in particular on that of gas and electricity.

Plastlab, like many other companies, suddenly experienced an exponential increase in said supplies, so much so that in 2023 it achieved a 67% increase in costs compared to the previous year and 102% if the data is compared with the 2021 period.

Given that the laboratory mainly conducts tests on behalf of customers, using systems and equipment with a non-negligible energy cost and considering that the estimates made on a preliminary basis of the expenditure, on the basis of the nameplate data, did not provide the information necessary for reliable forecasts, came to the conclusion of generating an archive of information in real time based on consumption analysis.

THE PILOT PLANT

The pilot plant aims to address consumption management, focusing on the general absorption from which to subtract the monitored points which are the equipment which, when activated, have the maximum consumption. The structure is made up of a centralized server, an indispensable point for the historicisation of data and a “Logger” service, i.e. the creation of reference points on the equipment, which have the function of an interface and allow the acquisition of data relating to energy consumption ,  being  able  to  also  trace  it  back  to  a  limited  period,  e.g. the duration of a test or a period of the same, then sending a report.

The service is also equipped with a display of data on graphs for annual projection with a disaggregated percentage for each plant and also carries out an automatic forecast calculation of costs for tests with known characteristics (tests already carried out) even with different durations.

The service will therefore allow us to have real costs of consumption and therefore to deal with any anomalies of the machines, to remedy the latter and finally to determine a suitable increase in expenditure for the customer which will be determined in a certain and correct manner.

This new plant marks an important step forward in our attention to the environment, allowing us to reaffirm our commitment to offering increasingly complete and accurate testing services to our customers.
